AHA Level 1 Hippotherapy Course
EQUI-KIDS Therapeutic Riding Program is pleased to host an
American Hippotherapy Association Level 1 Hippotherapy Treatment Principles Course
October 9 through October 12, 2014
This 4 day course is an overview of the principles of Hippotherapy designed for entry level therapists (PT, OT, SLP, COTA, PTA, SLPA) utilizing HPOT as a treatment strategy. Building on Equine Skills, the participant will explore the dynamic system of therapist, patient, horse handler and horse as it applies in Hippotherapy. Adaptive riding instructors, administrators and horse handlers are welcome to attend.

About the Clinician:
Lori Garone, MS, PT, HPCS
Lori Garone is a physical therapist, licensed in New York. She is a board certified Clinical Specialist in Hippotherapy. A 1990 graduate of Touro School of Health Sciences, she holds a Bachelor of Science in Community Health and a Masters Degree in Physical Therapy. Lori is an Early Intervention Provider and has treated patients from prematurity to early adulthood.
Lori is the recipient of the AHA Barbara Glasow Therapist of the Year Award in 2013 as well as the recipient of the 2010 Women of The Year in HealthCare for the Town of Oyster Bay, LI, NY.
She has served as Vice President, Education Chair, Practice and Standards Chair and Nominating Committee Chair for the American Hippotherapy Association, Inc., AHA, Inc., over a 15 year period.
Lori also teaches and consults nationally for the AHA, Inc. She has presented at national and international conferences on Hippotherapy and was chosen to represent the USA in the late 1980′s at the First Symposium of Hippotherapy for Physical Therapists at the Diamond Center in Surrey, England.
